RMIT is a large Australian university with a reputation for high quality teaching and innovative delivery. RMIT’s College of Business and Law wished to update their offerings in response to whole-of-university changes to blended learning. The College of Business and Law approached Curio with the challenge: “How should we change our MBA to embrace blended learning opportunities?”.Curio is a trusted partner of RMIT, having designed and developed close to 40 fully online courses across 13 discipline areas for RMIT. Curio assembled a team of subject matter experts, learning designers and analysts to transform the MBA. Curio partnered with RMIT to:
Work with college leads, directors, and heads of programmes to map out and design overall delivery plans, strategies for student engagement, as well as how to manage and prepare academics for the commitment and time taken to carefully redesign their course;
Coordinate between academics and industry partners to develop media-rich, industry aligned, contemporary course content;
Provide subject matter expertise and learning design for all staff development modules and courses;
Custom develop a new look and feel for the Canvas platform which hosts the MBA’s online content.
Curio aims for a twelve-week course design and development cycle – including media and video that capture academic course leads and industry voices. The outcome was a highly engaging online environment, which encourages experienced MBA students to share their knowledge alongside one another. Delivery was staggered such that first tranche of refreshed MBA courses were launched in a matter of months, allowing for a schedule which did not put an onerous impact on faculty staffing or academic workload.
