Rebuilding Unity Environmental University's Canvas for a new brand

Unity Environmental University was rebranding and moving to hybrid delivery. Its Canvas environment was fragmented, inconsistent and still carrying the old brand, so we rebuilt it around the new one.

The challenge

Unity Environmental University was introducing a new brand and expanding hybrid delivery, but its Canvas environment remained fragmented and visually inconsistent. Students encountered outdated branding and weak signposting as they moved between courses.

The University needed a unified learning experience delivered rapidly across a large course portfolio.

The approach

Curio ran UX and interface workshops with Unity stakeholders to establish the needs of learners, educators and the new brand. A shared Canvas template and component approach created the foundation for consistent uplift at scale.

Custom enhancements addressed navigation, alerts and access to support rather than limiting the work to visual restyling.

What Curio delivered

  • Stakeholder UX and interface workshops
  • A unified Canvas course template
  • Consistent application of the new brand
  • Navigation and signposting improvements
  • Custom alerts and learner-support features
  • Page and component patterns grounded in learning design
  • Uplift of more than 90 courses

The impact

More than 90 courses were uplifted in ten weeks, giving Unity a coherent Canvas environment aligned with its new identity and hybrid-learning direction. The project also received positive feedback from users.
