Make your learning technology work as one system

Curio helps organisations choose, improve and connect the platforms behind learning, so learners get a coherent experience and teams spend less time managing workarounds.

The problem

The platform is only one part of the experience

An LMS can be technically operational and still create friction every day. Learners struggle to find what matters. Administrators repeat manual tasks. Data sits in separate systems. Reporting describes activity without helping anyone decide what to do.

Replacing the platform isn't always the answer. We start with the learner experience, operational reality and educational intent, then work out whether configuration, integration, customisation or a broader platform change is justified.

How we help

Seven ways we improve your learning technology

Platform strategy and roadmap

Clarifying the role of each system, finding duplication and gaps, and setting a practical target architecture and roadmap.

LMS selection and improvement

Evaluating platforms against real user, learning, operational and technical requirements, not feature lists alone.

Experience and interface design

Improving navigation, accessibility, dashboards, course patterns and branding so the platform feels coherent and purposeful.

Configuration and workflow design

Aligning roles, permissions, enrolment, communications and administrative processes with the way learning actually operates.

Integration and custom development

Connecting the LMS with identity, student, HR, CRM, content and data systems, and building maintainable extensions where supported configuration isn't enough.

Data and analytics

Turning platform data into useful signals for learners, instructors and leaders, with reporting designed around decisions rather than data availability.

Governance and capability

Helping internal teams manage standards, releases, ownership, risk and continuous improvement after the project ends.

Canvas

Canvas LMS customisations and integrations

Curio designs and builds Canvas LMS customisations and integrations that make Canvas work the way your institution does. That includes branded themes and course templates, custom tools such as bookmarks, glossaries and reflective journals, and integrations with student, identity, CRM and commerce systems.

We build to survive Canvas's regular release cycle, so your customisations keep working when the platform updates.

Our own Canvas tools include Scaffold, Course Hub and Learning Journal.

Moodle

Moodle and Moodle Workplace

Curio designs and builds Moodle themes, plugins and workflows, including on Moodle Workplace, where the platform limits what you can change. We know where those limits are and how to get a branded, easy-to-use experience within them.

Platforms

Relevant experience across the LMS landscape

Curio's current experience includes Canvas, Moodle and Moodle Workplace, Brightspace, Totara, ELMO and PeopleSoft. We go deepest on Canvas and Moodle. An engagement doesn't need to start with a multi-year transformation: a focused workflow, integration, dashboard or experience improvement can deliver value quickly while building evidence for the broader roadmap.

Case studies

Learning technology in action

Early years
Scaling trauma-informed early years training

Kids First Australia needed its trauma-informed Early Years Education Program to reach far beyond the sites it started in. We turned a relational, in-person model into scalable eLearning for early childhood teams across Victoria.

Higher education
Making Moodle Workplace look like the brand

Metropolitan College wanted a Moodle environment that looked and worked like its brand. The catch was Moodle Workplace, a more restricted platform, so we rebuilt the experience within those constraints.

Higher education
Producing video for a new learning environment

The London School of Economics needed high quality video to bring its digital learning environment to life, in year one of a multi-year Moodle theme and learning environment engagement.

Common questions

Questions about learning technology

Should we replace our LMS?
Often not. Most friction in a learning platform comes from configuration, course design and missing integrations rather than the platform itself. Curio tells you whether a change of platform is justified before you spend on one.
Which learning platforms does Curio work with?
Curio works across Canvas, Moodle, Moodle Workplace, Brightspace, Totara, ELMO and PeopleSoft, and goes deepest on Canvas and Moodle.
Can Curio integrate our LMS with our student system?
Usually, yes. Curio has integrated learning platforms with student, HR, identity, CRM and payment systems. We confirm the approach once we've seen your environment and the options your platforms support.
Do you support what you build?
Yes. Curio offers ongoing support and release management, so customisations and integrations keep working as your platforms change.
Can you help us choose a new LMS?
Yes. Curio evaluates platforms against your real user, learning, operational and technical requirements, not feature lists, and helps you plan the move.
How do engagements usually start?
Many start small, with one workflow, integration, dashboard or experience fix. That delivers value quickly and builds the evidence for a broader roadmap.
