A feasibility study for a Digital Film School at St Andrew’s College

Posted byRead bio

St Andrew’s College (SAC) is a premier residential college at the University of Sydney with Alumni who are established members of the business, government and professional community. An alumnus brought a proposal to SAC to establish a digital film school and centre of excellence at SAC in partnership with University of Sydney Film School and leading film and production industry local and global brands.  Curio was engaged by the SAC Council to undertake a feasibility study into the proposal and advise SAC on whether to progress the proposal. The project was to assess the strategic, commercial and financial feasibility of the proposal.  Curio undertook the following to assess the feasibility of the proposal:
  • Engaged education, industry, and government stakeholders to understand the operating environment and potential partner alignment
  • Performed an alignment analysis to assess the extent to which the proposal fits with SAC’s mission, vision, purpose, values and services and programs
  • Undertook research and analysis into the commercial environment and assessed the attractiveness, opportunities and risks in the film industry in Australia
  • Developed a financial model to assess the financial opportunity and potential returns to SAC from the investment.
The feasibility was praised by Council as sufficient to enable it to make a decision on feasibility.
