Transform learning without treating it as a series of separate projects
Curio helps universities connect strategy, curriculum, learning design, technology, faculty and delivery, so change works for learners, instructors and the institution around them.
Universities don't experience change one system at a time
A new strategy affects the portfolio. Curriculum decisions affect teaching. Teaching depends on technology. Technology shapes the student experience. And all of it depends on people having the capability and capacity to make change work.
Yet transformation is often divided into separate strategy, curriculum, technology and implementation projects.
Curio works differently. We bring together education strategy, learning science, experience design, technology and delivery expertise to address the connected problem. We can help with one part of the system or work across it from the first decision through to implementation.
Strategy, portfolio and new models
Understand markets and learner demand, evaluate opportunities, shape portfolios and build the business and operating models behind new education initiatives.
Curriculum transformation
Redesign programs and curricula around clear outcomes, coherent learning journeys, authentic assessment and the capabilities graduates need.
Learning design and development
Design and build online, blended and face-to-face learning, from individual courses through to large-scale program and portfolio transformation.
Learning technology
Improve the LMS and wider learning ecosystem through experience design, templates, configuration, integrations, analytics and purpose-built tools.
AI in education
Identify where AI can create genuine educational or operational value, then design responsible applications around evidence, risk and the role of human judgement.
Faculty and capability
Bring in specialist capacity for transformation and delivery while building the knowledge, systems and confidence internal teams need to sustain the change.
Scale changes the problem
Designing one excellent course is different from transforming fifty.
At institutional scale, quality depends on more than good learning design. Standards need to be repeatable. Technology needs to support the model. Faculty need practical guidance. Production needs governance. Leaders need evidence of progress and quality.
Curio brings these elements together so institutions can move at pace without treating consistency as a substitute for good learning.
Make the learning ecosystem support the education model
Technology decisions should follow what the institution is trying to achieve for learners and staff.
Our teams work across Canvas, Moodle, Brightspace and connected systems to improve the experience, simplify workflows, integrate data and extend platforms where standard functionality isn't enough.
We also build learning products where a recurring problem is better solved once than worked around repeatedly. Explore learning technology or Curio products.
Higher Education work in practice
Metropolitan College wanted a Moodle environment that looked and worked like its brand. The catch was Moodle Workplace, a more restricted platform, so we rebuilt the experience within those constraints.
Leeds University Business School wanted carbon literacy built into staff and student capability. We designed a short, self-directed course with the university's own subject expert, rather than a workshop that fades.
By late 2019 RMIT Online was growing faster than its procurement could commission course design. We became the standing design partner, so new courses could move without re-running approvals each time.
The University of New England's long history in distance education had become the constraint. We modernised its digital learning environment at scale, against rising student expectations and post-pandemic competitive pressure.
The London School of Economics needed high quality video to bring its digital learning environment to life, in year one of a multi-year Moodle theme and learning environment engagement.
RMIT's College of Business and Law wanted its MBA to look and feel like the flagship it was meant to be. We designed four premium courses to a visibly higher standard.
Five universities, one shared careers micro-credential. The Australian Technology Network had mapped the learning and held most of the content. We built it into a coherent programme they could all run.
Unity Environmental University was rebranding and moving to hybrid delivery. Its Canvas environment was fragmented, inconsistent and still carrying the old brand, so we rebuilt it around the new one.
Seven Irish universities, one national micro-credentials marketplace. We built microcreds.ie for the Irish Universities Association after a competitive EU tender, solving a genuinely harder problem than a single-institution storefront.
An online Master's in Teaching has to match the on-campus programme and satisfy California's accreditation requirements. We built Santa Clara University's Canvas learning environment to do both.
The University of the Highlands and Islands is thirteen separate institutions. Communication there does not fail for want of software, so we scoped a shared intranet around how thirteen cultures actually work.
Bring us the institutional problem
You don't need to decide whether a challenge belongs to strategy, curriculum, learning design or technology before talking to us. Understanding how those pieces interact is part of our job.
