Make your learning technology work as one system
Curio helps organisations choose, improve and connect the platforms behind learning, so learners get a coherent experience and teams spend less time managing workarounds.
The platform is only one part of the experience
An LMS can be technically operational and still create friction every day. Learners struggle to find what matters. Administrators repeat manual tasks. Data sits in separate systems. Reporting describes activity without helping anyone decide what to do.
Replacing the platform isn't always the answer. We start with the learner experience, operational reality and educational intent, then work out whether configuration, integration, customisation or a broader platform change is justified.
Seven ways we improve your learning technology
Platform strategy and roadmap
Clarifying the role of each system, finding duplication and gaps, and setting a practical target architecture and roadmap.
LMS selection and improvement
Evaluating platforms against real user, learning, operational and technical requirements, not feature lists alone.
Experience and interface design
Improving navigation, accessibility, dashboards, course patterns and branding so the platform feels coherent and purposeful.
Configuration and workflow design
Aligning roles, permissions, enrolment, communications and administrative processes with the way learning actually operates.
Integration and custom development
Connecting the LMS with identity, student, HR, CRM, content and data systems, and building maintainable extensions where supported configuration isn't enough.
Data and analytics
Turning platform data into useful signals for learners, instructors and leaders, with reporting designed around decisions rather than data availability.
Governance and capability
Helping internal teams manage standards, releases, ownership, risk and continuous improvement after the project ends.
Canvas LMS customisations and integrations
Curio designs and builds Canvas LMS customisations and integrations that make Canvas work the way your institution does. That includes branded themes and course templates, custom tools such as bookmarks, glossaries and reflective journals, and integrations with student, identity, CRM and commerce systems.
We build to survive Canvas's regular release cycle, so your customisations keep working when the platform updates.
Our own Canvas tools include Scaffold, Course Hub and Learning Journal.
Moodle and Moodle Workplace
Curio designs and builds Moodle themes, plugins and workflows, including on Moodle Workplace, where the platform limits what you can change. We know where those limits are and how to get a branded, easy-to-use experience within them.
Relevant experience across the LMS landscape
Curio's current experience includes Canvas, Moodle and Moodle Workplace, Brightspace, Totara, ELMO and PeopleSoft. We go deepest on Canvas and Moodle. An engagement doesn't need to start with a multi-year transformation: a focused workflow, integration, dashboard or experience improvement can deliver value quickly while building evidence for the broader roadmap.
Learning technology in action
Kids First Australia needed its trauma-informed Early Years Education Program to reach far beyond the sites it started in. We turned a relational, in-person model into scalable eLearning for early childhood teams across Victoria.
Metropolitan College wanted a Moodle environment that looked and worked like its brand. The catch was Moodle Workplace, a more restricted platform, so we rebuilt the experience within those constraints.
The London School of Economics needed high quality video to bring its digital learning environment to life, in year one of a multi-year Moodle theme and learning environment engagement.
Howard Hughes Medical Institute's Educating for Freedom course already worked. We uplifted it with new animations and Canvas design, and widened its scope from equitable teaching to inclusive teaching more broadly.
Students across the University of Sydney's architecture, design and planning programmes had no single view of their progress. We built a progression planning tool so they could stop piecing it together themselves.
Physics at the University of Sydney runs online, blended and in person, often for one cohort in one semester. We redesigned the Canvas course so it flexes across all three.
Incoming international students at the University of Sydney needed information staggered across arrival, not delivered in one day-one dump. We built a custom Canvas experience where the sequencing did the work.
Unity Environmental University was rebranding and moving to hybrid delivery. Its Canvas environment was fragmented, inconsistent and still carrying the old brand, so we rebuilt it around the new one.
Seven Irish universities, one national micro-credentials marketplace. We built microcreds.ie for the Irish Universities Association after a competitive EU tender, solving a genuinely harder problem than a single-institution storefront.
An online Master's in Teaching has to match the on-campus programme and satisfy California's accreditation requirements. We built Santa Clara University's Canvas learning environment to do both.
The University of the Highlands and Islands is thirteen separate institutions. Communication there does not fail for want of software, so we scoped a shared intranet around how thirteen cultures actually work.
