Make Canvas work the way your institution teaches
Turn a standard Canvas implementation into a coherent learning environment. Curio combines learning design, user experience and technical expertise to improve how Canvas looks, works and connects, without replacing the platform.
Canvas is flexible. Your implementation determines whether people feel it.
When course structures vary, navigation is difficult and important data stays trapped in separate systems, both learners and staff carry the cost.
The answer is rarely more technology for its own sake. It's a clearer experience, shared design standards, well-configured workflows and integrations built around the way your institution actually operates.
Curio works across the Canvas environment, from course design and interface patterns to APIs, data and governance, so improvements stay useful beyond a single course or faculty.
What we can improve
Experience design and theming
An accessible, recognisable environment with clear navigation and interaction patterns that support learning, not a cosmetic reskin.
Course templates and design systems
Reusable structures, components and guidance for faculties and course teams, so quality is easier to maintain across the institution.
Systems integration
Canvas connected to student management, identity, CRM, content and reporting systems, so data moves reliably and manual administration drops.
API and LTI development
Maintainable tools and workflows built where the standard product doesn't fully support the requirement.
Analytics and reporting
Platform data turned into useful signals for learners, educators and leaders, designed around the decisions each group needs to make.
Governance and enablement
Standards, ownership and internal capability established so the environment keeps improving after launch.
Course design made simple, the team responsive and flexible on timeline.
What we've delivered
Kids First Australia needed its trauma-informed Early Years Education Program to reach far beyond the sites it started in. We turned a relational, in-person model into scalable eLearning for early childhood teams across Victoria.
Howard Hughes Medical Institute's Educating for Freedom course already worked. We uplifted it with new animations and Canvas design, and widened its scope from equitable teaching to inclusive teaching more broadly.
Students across the University of Sydney's architecture, design and planning programmes had no single view of their progress. We built a progression planning tool so they could stop piecing it together themselves.
Physics at the University of Sydney runs online, blended and in person, often for one cohort in one semester. We redesigned the Canvas course so it flexes across all three.
Incoming international students at the University of Sydney needed information staggered across arrival, not delivered in one day-one dump. We built a custom Canvas experience where the sequencing did the work.
Unity Environmental University was rebranding and moving to hybrid delivery. Its Canvas environment was fragmented, inconsistent and still carrying the old brand, so we rebuilt it around the new one.
An online Master's in Teaching has to match the on-campus programme and satisfy California's accreditation requirements. We built Santa Clara University's Canvas learning environment to do both.
Auckland University of Technology was moving more than 29,000 students to Canvas. A straight lift and shift was the easy path. AUT took the harder one and standardised design quality on the way.
